The Department of Veterans Affairs announced last month the 10 winners of Mission Daybreak, a $20 million grand challenge aimed at developing innovations to reduce suicides in the veteran and military-connected population.

Delivering on its commitment to assist soldiers taking a significant academic step into their future by filling in voids left by the Post-9/11 GI Bill, the national nonprofit SoldierStrong announced the 2020 recipients of its scholarship initiative, SoldierScholar, today.

As we honor those Americans who have sacrificed so much in the service of our country, we must do more to address a threat that stalks all too many of them.

In 2018, 321 active-duty service members took their own lives, including 57 Marines, 68 sailors, 58 airmen and 138 soldiers. This is the highest number of active-duty suicides since 2012 — when an equal number took their own lives — since close tracking began in 2001.

Several veterans representing SoldierStrong were honored to be so graciously greeted by President Donald J. Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Vice President Mike Pence at the #RNC2020 where they demonstrated the Indego exoskeleton suit used to aid paralyzed and injured veterans in regaining the ability to stand and walk again.

SoldierStrong is joined by the US Surgeon General and the NBA to bring awareness to mental health awareness month.

SoldierStrong announces a year-long partnership with Honor and Respect to benefit veterans throughout the country living with post-traumatic stress.

Secretary Wilkie names SoldierStrong as part of PREVENTS Task Force in the administration’s plan to prevent veteran suicide and outlined how the VA will implement the kinds of sweeping organizational changes needed to optimize new technologies and innovations and provide veterans with modern services.

Whatever scenario led to post-traumatic stress for a veteran, a new virtual reality system at the VA North Texas aims to recreate it, empowering veterans to confront and process memories they often spend years avoiding.
Clinicians are training this week on the StrongMind system, donated by the charitable organization SoldierStrong.

An incredibly expensive device just gifted to the San Diego VA will help literally lift up our injured veterans.

The device is called an Indego Therapy Exoskeleton made by a company called Parker.

An incredibly expensive device just gifted to the San Diego VA will help literally lift up our injured veterans. The device is called an Indego Therapy Exoskeleton made by a company called Parker. It’s a device spinal cord injury patients wear that allows them to sit, stand and walk without a wheelchair. Veterans like Isaac Lopez say it gives them hope for a more independent future.

Thursday’s meeting at Iowa State University was a parallel track to that initiative. As SoldierStrong staff researched how they could get involved in the mental health arena and focus on technology— which has been the organization’s strength in recent years— they located a number of experts, several of whom gathered at ISU for the meeting along with representatives from Iowa State.

SoldierStrong donated an Indego Therapy exoskeleton to the St. Louis Veterans Health Care System on Friday.

Bobby Rahal Automotive Group today donated $40,000 to SoldierStrong, a national nonprofit organization that provides state-of-the-art medical devices to aid in rehabilitating mobility to returning veterans around the United States who have experienced spinal injuries.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan (RLL) Racing announced today that its partnership with United Rentals Inc., the largest equipment rental company in the world, has produced a total donation of $499,767 to date since 2016

The Fraternal Order of Eagles and Soldier Strong raised $150,000 to buy the exoskeleton to donate to Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Their goal was to help injured veterans walk again.
